Find Out When Someone De-Friends You on Facebook
Facebook, How To, Social Media — By Matthew Tommasi on 4 September 2009 8:44 pm
Want to be able to know which of your ‘friends‘ has de-friended you on Facebook?
“Yes” I hear you say?
This guide will show you how.
Facebook Friends Checker is a Greasemonkey script that regularly checks your Facebook friends to check whether anyone has removed you from their friends.
When the script detects that someone you used to be friends with is no longer one of your friends, a message will appear informing you about who it was and giving a link to their profile page.
Setup
Firstly, this only works with the Firefox browser. If you don’t already have it, download and install it now.
Next you need to install the Greasemonkey add-on for Firefox.
Greasemonkey is a Firefox extension that allows you to customize the way webpages look and function. Greasemonkey allows you to insert Javascript into the local display of web pages in your browser. Nothing changes for anyone else, but images, links or text can be added or hidden automatically when you visit a web page that a script has been written for.
Go to the Greasemonkey add-on and click <Add to Firefox>,

Click on <Install Now>,

Then restart your browser,

You have just installed the Greasemonkey add-on for Firefox.
Now head over to Facebook Friends Checker.. and click on <Install>,

When the Greasemonkey Installation pop-up appears, click on <Install>,

Done! You have now just installed the Facebook Friend Checker script!
Time Interval for Checking
By default Facebook Friend Checker checks your Facebook friends list once every 2 hours. To change this time.. login to your Facebook account.
Now that you are logged into Facebook, click on Tools in your browser –> click on Greasemonkey –> click on User Script Commands –> click on Set time interval to check for removed friends…,

Change the time interval as required,

Here is a brief explanation of how the Script works.
Any time a page is loaded on Facebook, the script will run and it will follow the following basic algorithm;
- If the script has checked your friends in the past <<insert number here>> hours, do nothing.
- Otherwise, load a page on Facebook with a list of all of your friends.
- Go through each of these friends and add them to a list.
- Compare this list with the list saved the last time the script checked your friends.
- If someone was on the list before who isn’t now, post the box informing the user.
- Save the new list of friends over the old one.
- Save the current time as the last checked time.
De-Friended!
I have tested this out by getting my wife to remove me from her friends list,

Then confirming this by clicking on <Remove>,

Done! I have just been removed from my wife’s friends list.
Facebook Friend’s Checker
When I log back into my account I am notified that someone is no longer my friend.
Click on View Profile to see who has removed you from their friend’s list,

.. and lo-and-behold.. my wife’s profile appears letting me know that I have been removed from her friend’s list (and that is my beautiful daughter not my beautiful wife!),

So there you have it.. you can now be notified of who has removed you from their friend’s list in Facebook.
If you have any issues or questions with the Facebook Friends Checker script, please post your questions on the forum here.
Enjoy!

Also I've checked the script version of the author,it says “last update Oct 12, 2009″ and the script version here,is Sep 09..
I just changed the time interval to 2 hrs…the default
It works..Actually it's about 2hrs I waited..I got a rejected request and defriend one…
Probably 1 hr don't work 4 me and the 4 hr is works abnormally…
Good luck mate.
Yes at the time of writing the post both Firefox and the Greasemonkey
scripts were the latest versions.
Let me know how you go.

I suppose I have installed the latest version of greasemonkey…Is that FB friend checker script version u posted the latest? Maybe that's the prob…anyway I'll try it later on….
Hi Melvyn
Yeh that is weird.. it definitely worked for me whilst making that post.
If you really wanted to you could uninstall/re-install the greasemonkey
script.. and try again.
If all else fail try the forum.. the developer might be able to shed some
light on it.
Cheers
Matt

Thx 4 the reply.
When I told my friend to remove me,I just log out and close firefox.I did just like u said in ur post above…log in and got a notification about ur wife.I guess it don't matter if I log out cuz the time is still going on…
Waited for 1 hr,then open firefox and log in.
Don't see any notification on home or profile page but my friend list decrease by 1.
Then keep on refreshing page, still nothing!
Today I just enter FB and still nothing after 1 day…and the time interval is still 1 hr…
At my first try,I only got the notification when my friend just re add me…kinda weird..
Additional details:
I'm using firefox.
Have search on firefox addon for greasemonkey.
Click on friend checker link(here) for installing.
Hi Melvyn
Thanks for the comment.
I would probably suggest posting this question on the Facebook Friends Checker forum http://userscripts.org/scripts/discuss/40027
I changed this to 1 hour and it worked for me.
After you friend removed you.. and you waited the 1 hours.. did you log out of Facebook, then back in?
Maybe try that.
Cheers
Matt
I have applied all the steps and tried it
The time interval really don't work..changed it to 4 hrs and 1 hr…
Told a friend to remove me..then changed to 4 hrs.
After 4 hrs, maybe 7 hrs,When I logged on,there is NOTHING which appear on my facebook home page..but after load of my FB pages, then a pop up appear, stating the removal….weird.
I tried again…
Now changed it to 1 hr,still nothing don't show up!!
I left one day!! What the hell!
This script has a bug…doesn't work WELL!
Why?
When someone de-friends you will be notified via a “view profile” link.
When you click on this “view profile” link, you will be redirected to that persons Facebook profile and you will then know who it was that de-friended you.
I guess to answer your question, that would depend on that person's personal security settings as to whether their wall, info, etc shows up.
i dont get it, if she deleted you as a friend, and this script notifies you of it with a 'view profile' link, shouldn't you get a different screen (like one not showing wall, info, etc.)?
Seems silly to be honest. We all get deleted at one time or another. I say no love lost and just get over it if we're annoyed.
