How to Sync Facebook events with Google Calendar

Calendar, Facebook, Google, Social Media — By Matthew Tommasi on May 24, 2009 at 9:03 am

I recently discovered how to sync your Facebook events with Google Calendar.

Here’s how,

Login to Facebook then click on Settings > Applications Settings,

application settings

Click on Events,

events

Click on Export Events,

export events

When the pop-up box appears copy the URL,

copy URL

Now login to Google Calendar.

On the left hand side click on Add > then Add URL,

add URL

On the next screen paste the URL you copied from Facebook before, then click <Add>,

paste URL

Done!

Your Google Calendar will now automatically update with Facebook events.

Now that facebook has changed the interface completely.. is there still a way to do this? Is there a code that I can plug my user id number so that google cal can recognize it?

Thanks for that! It take a lot of duplication out of my life.
  • Thanks for the comment Theresa!

Is it possible to delete events that Google has imported from facebook? It seems that these events can't be edited or changed, as if Facebook has the final say over my ability to edit events in Google calendar.
  • I know what you mean.

I haven't found a way to delete FB events from my Google Calendar. I am
assuming if you deleted them from FB's end, they wouldn't show up in Google.

I got some issues with the time zone so the items have the wrong time in the calendar. What to do?
  • Nevermind, I found the reason why on the Google Calendar Help forum: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Calendar/...

I added an answer to that thread with more information:

  • I'm having issues with the time zone too. It appears that all events are displayed in GMT (+0), and there's no way to change it.
